Peter Davison, Dominic Rowan Join Law & Order UK

Whatsontv.com.uk reports that Peter Davison and Dominic Rowan will be joining Law & Order UK when they begin filming the next 13 episodes of Law & Order UK, along with returning cast members Bradley Walsh, Jamie Bamber and Freema Agyeman. Davison will play Henry Sharpe, who takes over the job of Director of the CPS replacing George Castle (Bill Paterson). Rowan will play Senior Crown Prosecutor Jacob Thorne. The article notes that Paterson will return in the future as the newly appointed Director of Public Prosecutions.

You can read the full article here: Peter Davison joins Law & Order UK

This is a bit of a surprise to me as I never heard that Bill Paterson or Ben Daniels were out, and I enjoyed both of them on the show. Oh well, as many fans of the Law & Order brand know, cast changes do happen! Hopefully these two additions will be just as enjoyable.

Shame they didn't 'remove' Freema rather than the guys. I still think she's like a thistle in a flower bed on the show (i.e.out of place!)

Hadn't heard this and I live in the UK ;0)

If this was Ben's decision, then I'm not surprised.I get the impression he prefers diversity in his roles, not playing the same character for any length of time.
Unfortunately,I no longer have a reason to watch the show.
My fondness for Bradley and Jaime isn't enough to override my absolute loathing of Freema.

Wow what racist statements, I think Freema does a good job on LOUK and deserves her place on the cast. "absolute loathing" seems like the ridiculous bashing of those fans who do not like diversity in their casting and would rather not see a show reflective of new Britain, that is representative of all races rather than a standard white faces. Furthermore are you suggesting the reason she stands out like a thistle is beacuse of her ehtnicity?, I certainly hope other LOUK fans are not as narrow minded as the first two commenters.

Perhaps you shouldn't jump to conclusions.
My "absolute loathing" has nothing to do with her ethnicity but rather her mediocrity as an actress.I have the same abhorrence for Brad Pitt.

Agree with Anonymous. Freema is a mediocre actress. Bring in someone who is capable of doing a nuanced, intriguing character in an often thankless role, like Alana de la Garza on the mothership. Her chemistry with Linus Roache blossomed wonderfully in seasons 18-20.

The jury's out on the new replacements - I hadn't really heard of either before the announcement by All Things. We'll just have to wait and see what happens when the revolving door starts revolving... it'll be interesting to see what kinds of ideas the writers and actors can bring to the table, what direction they want to take the cast dynamic in.

I actually LIKE Freema and I'm glad she's still with the show.

The only 'racist statements' here seem to exist in your head anonymous one. Personally I wouldn't care if she was purple, I just don't think she has the acting chops required.

Is Harriet Walter set to return too? I quite enjoy watching the interplay between her and Walsh and Bamber, but the article makes no mention of her status with regards to the show.

Forget the UK re-writes,when are they going to show LOLA on UK TV so I can record the episodes!

This means two Doctor Who regulars will now be in the L&OUK cast. As you're likely aware, Freema played companion Martha Jones in the 2007 season; Peter Davison had the title role from 1981-84.

gahks, Harriet's name wasn't mentioned at all in the press releases I've seen, so I have to admit I am not sure of her status.

Janet - I also haven't heard when LOLA will be airing in the UK. The only place outside the US that I know it is airing is in Canada.

We need a John Munch appearance!

Have just discovered Law and Order... Wow! Am I impressed! Beautiful, intelligent, workmanlike scripting... Lovely, nuanced acting... Brisk direction and photography. No melodrama. No inchoate monosyllabic scripting. No plodding story-lines. Beautiful! Well done all! (currently watching Episode 5 of the current season)
